Recently visited King’s Congee and was seriously impressed. The seafood congee was packed with fresh ingredients — lobster, crab, scallops, and shrimp all cooked perfectly. The broth was rich, flavorful, and had that slow-cooked taste you can only get from a kitchen that takes congee seriously. We also tried the pigeon congee and the morel mushroom congee, both of which were excellent. Every bowl arrived piping hot and loaded with ingredients, not just rice and broth like many other places. The side dishes were just as memorable. The braised pork feet were tender and full of flavor, the century egg tofu was refreshing, and the duck wings were perfectly seasoned. What stood out most was the quality and freshness of the seafood. You can actually see the live seafood selection, which explains why everything tasted so fresh. Portions were generous, service was friendly, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. If you’re looking for authentic Cantonese-style congee with premium ingredients, this place is absolutely worth a visit. We’ll definitely be back to try more dishes.

Really enjoyed the seafood porridge here. The ingredients were fresh, and the crab actually had roe, which made the porridge extra flavorful. The side dishes were good too. Would definitely come back.

Had a nice meal at Huo Zhou Wang Porridge. The seafood porridge was filled with crab, abalone, scallops, shrimp, and clams, and the porridge itself was smooth and comforting. We also enjoyed the pork porridge, which was simple and kid-friendly. Service was friendly, food came out promptly, and the complimentary pickled vegetables were a nice addition. Perfect for a cool or rainy day when you're craving something warm and comforting.

Before moving abroad, I always felt like going out to eat had to mean something big and heavy, like BBQ or a huge seafood feast or it somehow wasn’t “worth it.” Porridge felt way too ordinary, like something you could have anytime at home haha. But during my first year away from home, I officially changed my mind. I got hit with a terrible cold and nonstop coughing, and my roommate and I genuinely had no idea what to eat besides bread, plain congee, or steamed buns every single day. Then I found this old-school spot in LA that’s been around for over 10 years while scrolling Xiaohongshu, and the moment we walked in… there were tanks of fresh seafood everywhere, and the abalones were HUGE. Once we sat down, we realized the tables around us were also first-timers just like us. Everyone seemed to share the exact same mindset: order the porridge first, then go completely insane adding seafood into it afterwards. If you love that deep seafood sweetness in Cantonese-style congee, you absolutely have to order the abalone and scallop porridge as the base, then throw in extra seafood. We added clams and roe crab!! Honestly such a good value too. The table next to us each added an entire lob

In Los Angeles, you don’t even need to fly to Chaoshan to enjoy seafood clay pot congee! I was scrolling videos the other day and suddenly got SUCH a craving for seafood congee 🥹 You know that feeling when the lid opens and all the seafood aroma just rushes out at you? Hot, bubbling, and steaming everywhere!! So my bestie brought me to this old-school clay pot congee spot in San Gabriel that’s been open for 12 years! And I was like — wait, I’ve actually been here before already hahaha ✨ The restaurant isn’t super big, but the moment you walk in, you can see a huge tank of fresh live abalone! There were lots of families and friend groups dining there, and overall the atmosphere felt really comfortable. This time we ordered the scallop, shrimp & clam congee, which I pretty much order every time I come here! And we added a whole fresh roe crab too!! 🦀 That crab was SO fresh. There was so much crab roe, and once it cooked into the congee, the entire pot became insanely flavorful 😭 Rich, sweet, and full of seafood flavor! I’m honestly the type who ends up loving the congee even more than the seafood hahaha. We also tried the spinach pork liver congee, which was super smooth and co
